Placement for Temp sender for gauge

Just picked up some gauges, I was wondering what is recommended to hook the sending unit to for the water temp gauge? It comes with a threaded plug...do I need to tap the radiator somewhere or...?

Thanks!

Thermostat housing is really the only good place. Some people install a threaded manifold in the heater hose, but doing it that way makes the gauge less responsive. What's wrong with the stock gauge?

well, all the stock gauge gives me is Hot or Cold. I'm kind of particular about figuring out just how things are affecting the engine...like, in degrees

I hate idiot lights or simplified "bad or good" gauges...

Use the stock sender location.
