New Engines....
Well .. if its a performance motor such as the Evo, definately need to stay by their recommendations.
However, on NA cars - I have heard that the best way to seat the rings, is to "get on it as soon as you leave the lot" ... but I didn't. I just drive my car normal and am not worried about racing it. Hope some of these more knowledgable guys can answer this.
Did it say this in the manual??

no it wont rob horsepower. If I understood you correctly. Just dont rev it to avoid future problems. And to get your vavles in the right motion etc. The car drives a lot better if you take care of it in the beginning.

For the first thousand miles on the engine they say that you shouldnt rev the engine above 3500 rpms....do you think it will rob some horsepower?
