My car is overheating..

I have a t28 turbo'd es 2002. I have recently replaced the second fan (the ac was already done for rrm's up pipe setup) so i used a slim fan and wired it as a puller so it pulls air through the radiator from the outside into the bay.

So all was well for 4+ weeks, never noticed a thing with overheating. Then the other day it was warm, about 85+ so i turned on the air conditioning, and i noticed not more than 5 minutes later my car was overheating. Now i wasn't stopped i was driving somewhat quickly, a couple stops, but not for long periods of time.

I tryed to speed up thinking it was my fan, but it simply stayed the same, and even rose as i went.

So i pulled over let it cool down.

I have tried to check for air in my radiator, and no bubbles come up when i let it run without cap.

All fans are working fine,

Is the fan i put on not strong enough? is my thermostat stuck? Is my waterpump going? Is there not enough antifreeze in my mixture?

What could i do to determine.

I would check thermostat.. don't get the one from napa.. it doesn't fit.

I replaced mine when I did a coolant flush/change back when I had my turbo'd lancer.

I read somewhere that fans can actually blcok airflow while your car is moving and that restriction of air flow can cause your temps to rise. On some race applications they don't even have radiators for this reason. In daily driven cars though you need a fan for when you are at a stop idling. So I don't know what the solution really is for this.

Also if you have a non vented hood your car with a turbo acts like an oven.

I would look at the slimfans you have. My car overheated when I had my 900cfm fan and stopped when I switched to my 1300cfm. Also, when you run your a/c your fans need to work double time to keep from overheating. People running only 1 slimfan will find this out this summer.

changed to 1500 cfm main fan and 600cfm ac fan.

still oveheats when ac is turned on...

could this be a thermostat issue? i think not cuz it would act up all the time.

could it be my waterpump? no cuz it would be malfunctioning all the time.

so what could it be?

Anyone have a pic of the fan relay? which wires go where?

what i think you are not understanding is, you have a condensor infront of your radiator. that condensor is cold unless you turn on your ac then it starts heating up because of heat exchange to make your interior car colder. if your car doesnt overheat when you dont run your a/c its because the fan you have for your radiator is suficient for cooling your radiator. but when you turn on your a/c the a/c fan is either not turning on to cool the condensor or the fan doesnt blow enough air to cool it.

Here is the deal though, i have used the dame setup, and have had no issues prior to this. I have used a slim fan as my ac fan for forever now and never an issue, it is sudden.

done a compression check? It's common on turbo cars to lift the headgasket slightly from bad ignition timing in your tuning.

I know you said no air bubbles but sometimes its just enough to cause trouble without being noticeable.

are the outside temp's the same it is the summer... maybe one of the fans is slowing down, could be not getting as much juice as it used to get or maybe it could be the fan going bad.

hmm im overheating too. well it hasnt like made the car stall out or anything, but my fans wont turn on so i know thats why. but i know ive got it all wired up right, so i think my controller has gone bad :/.

but anyway my stock water temp gauge gets to a little less than in the middle.

what should be the spot where i should really worry, and whats yours at right now when you say its over heating?

These may be of assistance for anyone wishing to verify the integrity of their fan controller.
