Carbon fiber or fiberglass hood???

Hey guys. Would you recommend replacing the hood for a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood? Are there any performance gains? If so, are they worth the money?

first of all. i dont think this is the section for this... "hood" is not "engine"

secondly... CF hood is lighter. that's what you gain... it also looks nicer to most.

most people get carbon fiber hoods for the look.

i don't know how light the stock lancer hood is, if its steel or aluminum, but if it is steel, you're definately going to be saving a lot of weight by going to either fiberglass, or carbon fiber.

with fiberglass, theres also the need to get it painted to match the car, as where a carbon fiber hood can just be thrown on as is. But the downside to fiberglass, is that it can be damaged fairly easily, compared to carbon fiber.

im for CF. The stock lancer hood is fairly heavy compared to other cars. Then again.. the entire car is fairly heavy.... lol

keep in mind, fibreglass is cheaper as well. make your choice based on what you like to see.. you won't get much speed out of this if at all.

Most things CF from RRM have a fibreglass version as well. There are actually alot of fibreglass hoods and such for our car.

Also, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. However i did miss reading the "performance hood" and thought you were referring to CF hoods only the entire time.

My apologies if I hurt your feelings

All in all though, back to this thread. I tihnk we can end this thread, with everyone agreeing that the hood, CF or fibreglass, just get what you like. You won't see much gains, if any at all, from a new hood.

Save the money and get a REAL performance upgrade...

20 pounds off your car wont make a noticeable different....

Did you know that for ever 100 pounds of your car you shave 0.01 seconds of your 1/4 mile time?

with that money to performance ratio... not worth it imo...
