it looks just like the stock one and between 2000-3000rpm it is loud, after 3000rpm it becomes quiet...

Just my personal experience

Very Loud for my taste and used to riding a motorcycle. Just installed over the weekend after looking at the youtube videos that WORKS made. I got the package with drop in air filter. When you start the car when cold (today was 49 degrees) the car obviously revs at a higher RPM and sounds loud. When it 's warmed up you can hardly hear it. Now, Taking off... For fuel economy I shift at about 2500 RPM's. Getting from a stop to 3rd gear is the worst for me. The car is slow and the harder you push it the more obnoxious it sounds. Thus, it is a lot of noise for a very slow car to start out with, making me embarrased that everyone thinks I'm a "ricer". Which now I am!!! There is a decent growl to it but can sound farty when shifting through the first 3 gears. When you open it up above 3000 RPM's it kinda backs off. In fourth and fifth gear a lot more respectable sounding. Also, remember This replaces the muffler. No more muffler!!!

Overall driving performance increase: Better gas mileage.
As for high Rpm's 3500+ Sorry I don't push it that hard. Don't know

Hope this helps!

Opps Forgot

Sorry got off track, forgot about cabin noise. Anyway, Yes it is very loud. I keep rolling the windows down to see if the exaust is really that loud to be rattling me inside the car. It is. Not very pleasant

Ive been trying to decide what exhaust to get too. Im actually probably going to get a custom made one when i get some money together, but you need to have a good reliable muffler/exhaust shop to go to.

Some people like it to be loud like that though. My buddy put an exhaust on his car that was stupidly loud, you couldn't hear anything after a 5-10 min drive, and he loved it.

Its a matter of preference, as with most of the available mods for the lancer, but I do imagine the WORKS is pretty damn loud considering there isn't even a muffler.
