Question what would work better...

a cold air intake with exhaust or the headers and exhaust

I am asking because I am currently in the process of getting the 09 lancer gts(trying to get the dealer to find a manual one that is black with the sun/sound/tech package) and I was looking at RRM's site and I saw those things and was wandering which two would work in conjunction seeing as I am not really gonna have the money for all three much less two but for the fact that I will buy one then the other then the other. I guess I just want to know the best order to get them in.

Also has anyone gotten the exhaust...how does it sound.

Well, RRM's intake isn't a cold air, its a short ram. Currently as far as I know, Injen has the only Cold Air intake, and its like 100$ more. All of those mods will effect how the car sounds, but there are some videos on Youtube if you search "08 lancer exhaust" or something similar, you might find one that sounds good.

Personally I would go with intake and exhaust first, that is where most people start with moding. Adding the header could also completely change the way the exhaust sounds, so its up to you.

From my experiance, it is good to work in unision. If you put on intake stuff increasing the flow of air in, it helps to keep up with trying to get the air out. An Axel back exhaust is not going to give you hp numbers. It is past all the restrictive stuff like the header, cats, and resonator. The muffler is not very restrictive but the header is.

If I was buyng (and this is only my opinion) I would get the intake and header for the power increase (if there is any) and the AB exhaust for the crisp sound. I also like the sound of the Works AB exhaust better!

Hope this helps!

The way I see it: if you're not going to upgrade it all at once, it'd be better to start from your rear bumper and work your way forward...I've done this with all of the vehicles I've owned while on a budget. Think of it this way....

If you're going to upgrade only your intake, headers, cat, and exhaust, what would make more sense? Sure, upgrading your intake would be the cheapest and easiest of mods, but what's the point in buying a system that would let you suck more air, but only burn-off the same amount of exhaust?

I haven't seen a high-flow cat replacement for the FED Lancer (trust me I've been looking for one), but going from muffler (to test pipe to replace cat, if you have a PZEV) to headers to air intake would be the best way to go...but to each his own, right?

Intake and exhaust(since you want sound). And the RRM's exhaust sound great. Specially If you have all 5 items from RRM installed. It has a low tone to it at low RPM and when you hit the highs It sounds like a race car not a lawnmower. I never get tired of it.
