Pulleys oh my

Alright, so heres the deal. Have an underdrive pulley on my car, bought an upgraded hi output Alternator that has a bigger pulley on it than the stocker. So I have a smaller crank pulley and a bigger alternator pulley. at idle I don't get enough power, rev the engine up to about 2000rpms and its full of power. Is this just because of how slow the alternator is spinning? I am thinking yes but want to hear someone else chime in. I am getting my timing belt changed in a week or so and can have the mechanic change the underdrive to a light weight pulley switch the pulleys on the alternator. I was just curious as to if this should work. thanks.

Yes. Obviously.

The alternator is being underdriven. Underdrive pulleys and lots of speaker crap are not compatible.
