Short Ram Intake Question

I've noticed different types of induction kits out like the RoadRace intake uses stock piping to the throttle body while Injens intake uses new piping. Is there a difference in performace for the two? I know the new piping looks sweet but I dont wanna shell out the extra dough if I'm gonna get the same performance from it.

If you want you can send me 5 bucks for shipping and I'll send you an Injen elbow priority mail.

I'm not totally certain it'll sit in the stock position, but for 5 bucks I guess it can't hurt to find out. If you're interested, just let me know.

There's a few guys around here that have replaced that section with some rather creative elbows (one happens to be a 45 degree rubber pipe coupling from Home Depot), but I am not sure if that adds or reduces performance. I heard that Injen actually tried a number of their elbows before settling for the one they use on their intake now, because other ones actually reduced hp. So the Injen elbow for Lancer improves performance on the Injen intake, but there's no test showing that it would help with other ones (although I suppose it would breathe better than the stock section)

The only advantage I see in an "engineered and test-proven" elbow piece would be that it presumably provides more straightfoward and unobstructed airflow from the filter element to the throttle plate. How much restriction the stock elbow suffers from, seeing as how it's a very short distance, is what's debatable. But for $5, it wouldn't hurt to get something better than stock, since anything beats stock, right?

hmmmm, Andrew I'll buy it from you for $5, I'd love to try this and see what my butt dyno says. Does this one eliminate that one hose from the valve cover so I'd put a breather on it instead?
