I hear cops like to give replacement parts for missing cats called "tickets" and "fines" that fit just right. They're a little expensive, but easy enough to get...just blast by a cop with exhaust coming out the middle of your car. Problem solved!

Running of an exhaust manifold only I'd hope you'd also have the money to keep rebuilding your engine with all the valves you'd be burning up.

W/o a cat-converter or using a test pipe, our cars will trip the CE light, and soon the car will run so rich that the valves will tick crazy like an early model escort's electrical system. I know I tried a test pipe long ago . . . an O2 mod will soon fix the problem.

Valves are burning up from being too rich.

Also, you can strip the tar off the door after removing the door panel. I've removed approx 3 lbs on just one door (tar and plastic lining).

wrong, 14.7:1 is perfect ONLY FOR catalytic convertor operation. Best fuel ratio for power varies depending on the compression of the engine, VE, temps, type of fuel, etc, etc but usually an a/f in the high 13s is best for a non-turbo car and an a/f in the low 13s is best for a turbo vehicle.

I had a hole in my exaust just past the manifold ( the flange on the header just wasnt holding), and drove it for a few months not really realizing (you cant hear a leak while driving)... Now my car sounds like a freakin maraca, people point and laugh when they hear my car coming form 2 blocks away ... its not worth it to fix it, im just hpoing the car will hold out till the evo's come out.. dont let this happen to you, if you're going to screw w/ the exhaust, know what you're doing and modify the engine / fuel ratios accordingly.. dontjust yank out parts like the cat and muffler haphazardly. trust me...

Test pipe is fine. Knowledge here for some is dangerous. Second catand 2nd O2 is just emission check up thing. not going to affect fuel mix. It doesn't even set off CE light. I have one. Cheap mods like some of the HOMEDEPOT.COM stuff that gets talked about in the forum are fine but be sure you know what you are doing. Some great stories of broken bolts, f'ed up MAS honeycombs..... Get a job and buy proven stuff and or double check stuff before you go "F" up your car.

HobieKopek is a cheap mod!!! j/k.

upgrading the turning lights is relatively cheap, removing the spare tire is free and lightens the car

I'm sure I wouldn't take offense if I knew what the hell you were talking about. I'm not even close to a mod you know.

...If you insist. I don't think it's so much who you're talkin' about so much as how you say it...but enough of this. Back to the cheap mods...

if you want a cheap mod, go to http://apparts.netfirms.com/intake.html get the adaptor plate for the MAF box, and get a 25-50 cone filter. which comes to a 40-65 dollar intake, may not be as good as the rrm or injen, but probably better than stock.
