ok, so i just had to clear the random/multiple misfire (p0300) code for the second time in the last 3 days, car is running fine but my heart drops every time i see my service engine soon light comes on.
You guys with older cars need to check for vacuum leaks or install issue on the piggy. I know it sounds strange but installing piggy often exposes issues like leaks that have nothing to do wit the piggy. Replace all the little vacuum hoses on the manifold or check for leaks....... I SWEAR you will find some and it will seem like a piggy issue but it is not. Otherwise you installed piggy wrong somehow. Call us Monday when we open if you need more help.

i had similar problems and i pulled it off also but i thought cause i bought mine used off someone that maybe they hooked it up and changed the map settings or in shipping it lost its programming someway...
Mine is fine and i've had it for around a year installed, no problems. They're right when they say it idles rough for a while until the car re-learns, but other than that i'd say go with what Rock says.
