Turbo vs. All Motor

Alright... heres the toss up...

Option #1:
RRM Turbo (Non-IC) (gunna get a diff IC custom fitted around here at a later date if i get the turbo.. to expensive for turbo+ic)

... or....

Option #2:
rrm headers, rrm intake manifold, bored out pistons, buschur racing downpipe, rrm ecu reflash, rrm throttle body, spark plugs, camshaft upgrade, and i already have greddy catback and injen intake..

So uhh... help me out -- what do you all think??.. either option costs around the same..

Note: if i go with option #2 -- i'll hold off on the camshaft upgrade until rpw fixes the problems

What problems on the camshaft?

I'm pro-boost. And it's Buschur, not Buschar. Oveall I think the car's a lot more fun TC than it could be NA.

You could always get the Turbo along with the Intake Manifold, Header, Throttle Body, Pistons, Spark Plugs and Reflash.

The idle problem was Paul's and he didn't get the cam gear. I dunno if that's the cause, but it's quite probable.

No problems with the cam...my stage 1.5 has NO problems, only benefits.... (cam gear installed too). I think with all motor you will eventually hit a wall where there is nothing left to do without making the car a straight track car. Turbo or supercharged will give you more options later down the HP line plus keep the driveability of the car intact.

Unless you're racing with a rulebook in your hand, you really have no other reason to go NA vs FI... You will ALWAYS get better gain going forced induction.

The ONLY reason I didn't go turbo is the above mentioned reason... I race in an organization where an aftermarket turbo would put me in an astronomical category. Otherwise, I think a turbo would be wonderful.

start off with a turbo, even non-ic, your gonna enjoy it a lot more than you would tearing apart your engine, later on work on it and get the boost up with internals, but yea, thats my opinion

IMO i would say go with option #2 because you can always go turbo later. i say get everything else before you TC, atleast thats what i am gonna do.

No one's pointed out yet that if you go option 2 and get the ECU, you'll have to add the cost of the Turbo ECU to the cost of the Turbo that it sounds like you're definitely getting down the road. You can't run a turbo with the NA ECU - you'd probably blow up. ;-)

I'd go with option 1 and work from there - the gains will probably be more off the bat and decisions you make on the other mods (like the ECU) will probably be different based on whether you're doing forced induction or normal aspiration. Might as well make those choices once rather than twice.

if you have the money for the turbo... you need to get that. so much more power... but the way i see it... anyone w/ turbo should have all of option 2 as well to let the car breathe
