That is from the movies as mentioned before. It is all about the driver. No way, a Lancer will out handle a Mustang will equally high caliber drivers! Just ain't gonna happen, and I still don't know why we are even still discussing this issue. It is a mute issue, and will never be a issue or a close comparison!
true but then again if the guy hes talking about its a lil talkitive punk that just got the stang hes not gonna be that great at driving so.... all hed have to do is tell him to run him on the back roads and hed be fine.

true and id change my name if i where him. but either way. im sure who ever he has in mind was a douche to him when he had his last car. altho if i was going for big game like that on the track or striaght aways id have gotten a 2009 ralliart and called it quits after a few mods.

Technically he's right, with those mods the car would be fast enough.
You're assuming that the OP is a good driver which I'm highly doubtful of. If someone has the name stanghunter, 9 times out of 10, they're under the age of 20 and have zero racing experience.

how would you call me a bad driver?? ive been in the 07 shelby gt500 with the traction control and everything **** wasnt able to take corners at all bud.

With statements like this do you really need me to clarify why I said you probably weren't a professional driver?

i dont think mustangs are good at all taking corners..thats why i made the comment about bad handling earlier, while it technically might not be bad handling as amby said its how the car is.. what i personally consider a better handling car is something i feel more comfortable taking a corner with.. and id feel much better taking it in a lancer than in a mustang.. even tho im not into muscle cars id probably daily one if the handling was more what i would want.

What you consider to be a better handling car is not technically right though, in qualified hands, a Mustang is a decent handling vehicle. I suspect the reason why a Lancer feels more confident is because it's FWD, it understeers and it doesn't snap the tail around when you're on the throttle mid-corner. That doesn't made for a good performer and a lot of people intentionally mod their car to act more like a Mustang (rear sway bar, increasing the rear spring rate, both intended to make the rear livelier).
Here are the stats for a Mustang GT vs a Lancer GTS according to Road & Track.

Mustang
1/4 mile: 13.8@104.0 MPH
0-60 MPH: 5.3 seconds
Braking from 60 MPH: 115 ft
Skidpad: 0.93 g
Slalom: 69.1 MPH

Lancer
1/4 mile: 16.5@86.0 MPH
0-60 MPH: 8.5 seconds
Braking from 60 MPH: 126 ft
Skidpad: 0.82 g
Slalom: 64.7 MPH

Based on that, the Mustang seems to be a pretty clear winner in terms of power, handling, braking, etc.

motortrend states the 2008 lancer GTS to run 16.0@88.4mph with manual.

now that i agree with. i know that i could take a less experienced driver on some back roads. but thats anyone tho. but with what i feel with the new lancer vs the old one i could run a stang drive now. but i havent raced with this car i have a kid now so (as we talked about in pm) i dont do as i use to 2-3 years ago.

I'm sure there are faster Mustang times as well. Look at the trap speeds, they're very different. Once the Mustang is moving, it kills the Lancer. The Mustang has a 0-100 MPH time of 12.7 seconds, the Lancer, 24.1 seconds, almost double. The Mustang would absolutely blow the Lancer's doors off.

lol i feel like this is like a midget trying to run faster than someone of average height.... sure they can train a **** load and maybe beat them... but seriously? whats the point.

they are different people just like these are different cars.

lancer has a 4cycl engine mustangs have v6 or v8s ....

if the OP wanted to beat mustangs NA in an asian import... should have bought a little honda. lol 91 CRX FTW!!!

As far as the "Stanghunter" name; I would make it more like the Ford Focus Hunter. Now that is realistic!

true dont get me wrong i have been to the track here in NC several time with my dak R/T and i have raced stock new stangs up to a guy with intake and exhaust i guess the crowd was just bad that day but no GT's ran under a 14.0 then. i know becasue tats the day i ran my 13.4@103 not fast enuff but it was one of the fastest times of the day. so it does have a lot to do with driver. ppl in the magizines are pro drivers that are good at what they do and practice alot. some joe shmoe wont go out on the twisty and be great the first time. so in theory he has a chance but the way he doesnt know about the car first off(OP shoulda got a 09 GTS) he wont stand a chance with the stang guy would just slow in turns and pull in strights.
