Question Engine noise

hey all, have any of you other lancer oz owners noticed a noisy engine on cold starts and intermitantly warm that kinda sounds like a lifter noise? I have heard this noise from new and thought it might need a break-in, however after 4000 miles and a Mobil 1 oil change it seams to still be there. Are these engines just noisy or what? it sounds almost like it has a timing chain instead of a belt. I am an ex nissan master tech and a current Mercedes tech, maybe I am spoiled now Idunno

hey andenbre, i have the same problem, i asked the same question and a couple people agreed, its pretty much the only problem i have with the cars overall noise, its the only thing that brings down my thought of having an overall luxury vehicle, everything else i am pleased with.

hey dood.... are you sure that sound is from your engine? cuz i had a loose sounding chain sound too but it was comming from my trany. Yeah it sounds pretty ill. Any how... my lancer is in the shop for that reason right now and the technicians really don't know what to do. Its weird when i push my clutch pedal to the floor, the sounds goes away. When i turn my A/C on too it louder. ANyhow... just though i'd pass that along. I don't know when i'll get my car back

I am happy with the car aside from the lack of power..... had a panic stop from 60 in rush hr traffic in Chicago... saw exterra then wall then exterra then semi then exterra ect..ect..ect stopped at a45 degree angle without damage. wanted to jump out and do a victory dance but knees were to weak. bout loaded my pants but felt in ful control. I sold on lancers rally history now

mitsu engines have hydraulic lifters and belt drive not chain drive. If it is still noisy change the oil.
