Top end drying out?
Top end drying out?
Has anyone had this issue? I know my lifters need to get flushed/cleaned out, but not long ago my car basically sat for a few days. All I did for 2-3 days was turn on the car to move it in the garage a few times (probably 30-60 seconds running time). After a few days, I fired it up in the morning and the engine was rattling and banging quite loudly.
Since the noise did soften and go away within a few mins, I realized it must have been an issue with the top end somehow drying out, and not being lubricated properly. Any thoughts? Hasn't happened since so it's been a one time deal.

No, I haven't removed the rocker arms and/or lifters before.
Also, this was not the normal ticker lift. I get that tick quite regularly - this noise sounded as though something was broken and rattling around in the engine, yet I know that wasn't the case. It was really loud.
I'm guessing this is a rare occurrence?
