Best MPG

Who's got the best MPG?? Report your setup (eg. stock, modified, mod details), the amount of fuel you put in, and the mileage you attained.

I've gotten about 34 or 378 miles from full to fuel warning light.

36 max with no mods and granny pedal on the highway 100%
28 with the turbo on, WHILE TUNING, ie basically nothing but acceleration

For those who don't know, the best way to calc mpg is to fill up, set your trip meter to 0, drive until you fill up again, and then take the gallons you filled with, and the number you have on your trip meter. Divide "miles on trip" / "gallons filled" and that's miles per gallon. Both times you fill up, make sure you let the gas pump go till it's full, and then don't top it off....best way would be even use the same pump.

To make this more reliable, do 3 tanks, and keep track of each fill-up by keeping receipts, then do the calculation on the trip meter and the total of gallons added. I just figure I mention all that, since sometimes it's not immediately apparent to some.

When MPG becomes a concern, you should switch to driving a bycicle.
Cars are meant to burn gas, not save it.

but hey... since you asked...
ported intake manifold/sri/catback/piggy V1 with custom tune
9mpg when I get on it
36mpg when I feel like a hippie
The numbers are from Auterra.

No one is saying MPG's are "a concern" and no one is saying they aren't. It's not necessarily worth splitting hairs over but don't act like if you had the choice between 2 cars, everything identical....one gets 15 and 1 gets 30...you're going to toss your hands up and say, "meh, whichever one you want to sell me, if everything else is the same, I don't care". I mean, if MPG really is a concern...then even a bike is a bad idea, it took gas to create that bike, I mean jesus look at the carbon footprint on that huffy!

wow...that didn't mean to turn into a rant, anyhow...buddy at work, 26mpg, no mods, 150k miles though. He drives like his hair is en el fuego though.

28-30 city/highway spirited driving with 12psi turbo. If I lay into the throttle... hmmmm. 8? lol Thats why I love turbo though its there when you want it and so is the mpg if you want that.

Yes, I definitely agree, MPG's aren't anything worth splitting hairs over, but they are definitely somewhat of a concern. My friend has a 2009 Honda Civic Si and we always take my car because it gets better MPG. It's noticeable on road trips, an activity in which we love partaking in.

No mods whatsoever, but I'm sure that having all different tires and having the following tread depth consistency isn't in my cars' best interest for MPG, speed, or handling.

Driver Front= 5/32 Passenger Front= 6/32
Driver Rear= 3/32 Passenger Rear= 7/32

God, I need my new tires. Not to mention the torque steer which has now unveiled itself in its annoying pulling to the side ways.

It goes way beyond that. Rim/Tire weight, your own personnal weight, the weight of the people you haul around, the weight of your sound system, the weight of the crap you keep in your car, and on and on and on. Weather conditions(hot, cold, windy, front wind, rear wind), type of pavement you drive on, altitude, the way you drive.

Take the same car through the same path but with 2 different drivers and you'll get 2 different readings when you calculate your MPG. When I took over my dad's mini-van, the in-car MPG display showed 10L/100kms(that's with my father driving). 3 months later the display shows 12.8L/100kms.

In my book, comparing MPG readings is useless(unless troubleshooting an unusual gas consumption*sp?*). Everyone will get something different even if they drive exacly the same car.

My hair is fine
