IAT Sensor
IAT Sensor
OK - Hello, I got a question - I just bought a mod for my intake and I am trying to locate the IAT sensor - I looked over my engine and the closest thing I could find was a a litttle black harness (facing the passanger side) and there is a part # on it ---> MD305600 <---- Is this the IAT sensor - ok so i have a 99 galant but i checked i think the lancers and most other mitsubishi cars all use that same part. And if that is the IAT sensor - why does it have three wires, one is a ground right?? I am totally stupid when it comes to this so help me please

first of all, if you don't understand what you're touching, don't touch it at all. second of all, there is no mod i know involving an iat that is worth the trouble. third, if you ruin a harness to a sensor through splicing and you can't find a replacement harness at a junkyard, you're looking at buying the whole $500 engine wiring harness that connects everything to the ecu and other devices from the engine bay to inside the car. you can't just buy a simple sensor wiring harness from the dealership (that i know of). this whole iat thing has been asked a million times, but imma do something different. i'm gonna give you what you're looking for so you can come back and tell us how this "mod" did nothing and you hacked a perfectly good wiring harness.
locate the mass airflow sensor harness. while looking at the wire side of the harness with the lock clip on top, the wires are numbered from left to right from 1-7. there are no actual markings but just to designate them. the iat wires are numbers 5 and 6. 6 is red and blue. 5 is black. 6 is current flow input, 5 is output. if you use either the 501 or 609 mass airflow sensor, the colors may be different but the wiring by number should be the same. the iat does not just have 3 wires because it is part of the mass airflow sensor and that harness has 7 wires.
honestly, if you don't have an understanding of the cars electrical system and sensors, you shouldn't be touching it. especially since you're so "totally stupid when it comes to this." merry christmas...
