I was wondering if it were posible to put a mitsubishi 2.0L eclips head and put it on the 2.0L lancer? Will they match up and will the clearances be safe? thanks

 

I don't think any Eclipse has ever used a 4G9X engine which would make the possiblity of fitment impossible or unlikely. The Eclipse has used a variety of 4 bangers: the Neon 4 cylinder (A20 I think ), the naturally aspirated and turbocharged 2.0L 4G63, the 2.4L 4G64 in the 3G's and that puny 12 valve engine from the 1G's. Okay...now that I've listed those, I'll reiterate my statement and say that I wouldn't put any money down betting the heads will fit.

 

well I was just curious because ive worked on eclips heads before and know that they are pretty mean. I haven't seen what the lancer looks like but I'm sure its ugly 16 valves sohc dang it I've never seen that before. I was also curious because most motor companies have the same bolt and water graumit patters. Like honda is a very good example you can interchange engine parts all day long so...hey what the heck just exploring some ideas. But on a serious note I think the new U.S. evo has a dohc and I was wondering if that is a orderable item?well any info would be appriated. thanks

 

Er...the Evo runs the 4G63 same as the Eclipse, so again, no.
