Engine Trouble
Engine Trouble
So another 4B11 engine has gone boom on me, and of course since the first one was denied warranty work, so is the second one. I need another engine. Anyone have some good leads?
san antonio ? what dealership did you go to ? What happened ? More details please...
edit, i remember now
car decided to eat an OWL on the highway and his engine went kaboom.

But srsly, have you tried looking at junkyards for wrecked Lancers? They've been out long enough that there should be one somewhere, and maybe you can find one in decent shape for a lot cheaper than a new one straight from Mitsu.
Sorry about your motor, dude.

ETA: I googled out of curiorsity and found this: http://www.used-auto-engines.com/use...shi-store.html
Looks like there's a 2.0 4B11 from a Lancer in Houston. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. Let's see...uhm...mods: CF evo x Hood, intake. Bought it from west loop mitsubishi in San Antonio around June 2008. The car itself actually came from Shreveport LA because the dealer in San Antonio didn't have a red lancer with manual tranny.
The first engine that went boom, didn't REALLY go boom it more or less just melted. Long story short, wife hit an owl, owl cracked radiator, car overheated...engine dead. Not instantly of course, over the span of about a day the slightly cracked radiator leaked all the fluid and never gave notice of over heating until the damage was done. I fought with dealership and insurance on it and ended up just having to eat that one and put an engine in from a junk yard lancer (rear end total, $1600 for the engine). The good side was that the engine only had 8k miles and the chassis had 22k.
2nd engine. I have no idea what happened. I was driving to work like any other day, fighting sleep (cause I have an hour commute usually around 6 am). The cruise control was on and I was doing about 70 then bam. All gauges dropped and I pulled over popping the hood and saw oil splattered all over the firewall. Since the first engine was replaced outside the warranty, of course the second engine has no warranty coverage.
I blew the engine on my 3000GT VR4, that thing was very modded and I was ******* the hell outta it, much younger-much dumber back then. THIS car was supposed to be my family car, the "new" car I wasn't supposed to worry about. The VR4 blowing up was LOUD...this, I've had farts 10 times as loud. So...yea. =\
I had a friend bring his truck/trailer to haul it home. Within 60 seconds of jacking it up at home and getting under it I could clearly see the gaping hole in the firewall side of the block. SO if I HAD to guess, I'd say bearing failure?
Either way, I'm likely dropping an engine in and selling it. Even though I love that car...I'm not buying another engine.
