fabricated air box with cold air extension

so what do you think of the idea? would that work better than either a cai or shielded short-ram?

it would be a short-ram in a some-what sealed box with a pipe extention with maybe a 4" dia leading either somewhere cold or to one of the side grills in the front bumper.

can anyone shed some light between this option and the other common two? (cai and short-ram)

Interesting concept but seems like extra work for nothing. Either stick with a short ram (SR) in a box (sans extra piping) or just simply go with a CAI. If you do your idea...I'm having difficulty seeing it matching the effectiveness of a standard intake (either CAI or SR) since it's in a box, relying on a pseudo-ram air effect from a pipe that will be bent in order to relocate it. If it was something like a short ram with a tube say leading to the hood to a vent, that seems a bit more logical butt even then, just a hood scoop sans any extra boxes or what not would probably be more effective...and boy did I just say a whole hell of a lot.
