Upgrading Exhaust equipment.
Turns out I ordered the wrong part. The catalytic converter that I ordered goes on the rear. The front one has the catalytic converter installed into the header as previously mentioned.
So who has removed theirs and wants to ship it to me? :P C'mon tuners.

According to the service manual, part 10 is simply labeled as an "Exhaust Manifold" and didn't specify that there was a catalytic converter in there. Silly service manual.
Post #5 ryancb said it was there. And you didn't look at your car yourself? There's one distinct cat in the back obviously the 2nd...
... And you follow that one pipe back up...
I guess what I'm trying to get at is you might want to take your car to a mechanic.

I didn't mean, for them to identify what needs to be replaced.
It's going to have to be put on at some point.
So... Why go back with a stock cat when you made a thread about upgrading the exhaust and trying to squeeze power out of the 4g94? ... At what point did you change your mind?

Well at this point anything is better than $500. Considering this conversation, I'd say go with the RRM Header. I hate to say that with it being overpriced but it seems as if you don't know your way around the lancer too well so I don't want you dealing with fitment issues. I have a feeling the install may be rough for you.
Not that there's a difference between a header install and oem manifold install...

So you've visually inspected the cats already? Why not just empty the crud out of there while you pin pointed the bad cat? That would've been the cheapest route.
If you're referring to hollowing out the cat, that's problematic for 2 reasons. A, it's illegal in Salt Lake county and everywhere else in general. B, it does not increase performance, it makes it worse.
It's been a common misconception that hollowing out a catalytic converter will increase performance. While this may have been true in older pellet 2 way styled cats, they have dramatically improved flow rates with modern day 3 way ceramic honeycomb styled catalytic converters. If you hollow out a cat, you are actually creating turbulence, and losing power. Plus you can take the old cat to a junk yard and get some money for it since there are precious metals in there.
Plus wouldn't the CEL Eliminator be spotted on the visual inspection of the engine bay anyways?

It beats a clogged cat. If your on a budget you should probably just go with ebay and if your worried about CEL eliminator you need to just go back to stock. YOU WILL NEED A ELIMINATOR WITH ANY AFTERMARKET EXHAUST MANIFOLD.
