i give credit to your parents for allowing you to persue this...i remember when i was young (about 14) and learning how to build cars, i had an old pontiac sunbird, one barely running, and two for parts, lmao...mom didn't like that she made me get rid of them and i didn't have my own car again till i was 18 and living on my own, basement apartment and nowhere to work on it...

Nice! Would have been a great project if you kept the sunbird. The roar of a v8 But yea, things happen that we couldn't really control and had to get rid of them. But, gotta look forward and keep going to the next goal.

Long time no update! The project shall begin in MARCH! I just bought new tail lights yesterday so they shall be arriving by next week! (I personally hate the altezza's so I opt for the Depo Euro red evo 7 style on ebay) I finally got a steady flow of money and projected to save up enough for the bottom end. I'm still debating between the manley rods TT rods and the MaP steel billet rods. Since I'm building the bottom end, what do you guys think, 156mm @8500 rpm or 150mm @7500.

I want to get the project done before boost for boobies ^.^ Also how would a bumper exit exhaust be like for daily driving? I was thinking of running from the down pipe straight out through the bumper like what demon had on his set up. It's still up in the air as I want to complete the short block. I'll finalize everything else after the motors been built.

Just curious about the tran, does the lancer one bolt up? Id like to do this swap especially being that my girlfriends dad has a 4g64 out of a 2000 eclipse sitting in the back yard lol

The 4g94 transmission doesn't bolt up to the block, although the internals are
swap-able from the 4g94 transmission to the 4g64. The easiest way is to swap out the differentials from what I've been reading on. If its the 5-speed 3g eclipse you should be golden. (Not the 6g7X That transmission is a different bolt pattern) I still have yet to search for a cheap one. all the ones I look up are around ~600.

I might put in a quaife LSD and a stage 2 rebuild from jacks or shepards while I'm at it.

Are the mounts the same? Is it a pretty straight forward swap?

It's pretty straight forward if you don't plan to boost or do anything high horse powered as the stock 4g64 pistons aren't made for it. The rods will be fine up to 350whp as they are the same as evo rods. But yes you will need a custom mount on the passenger side rail and a transmission mount from the eclipse as the motor will not sit right with the lancers stock transmission mount. The fronts and back work out fine but the radiator fan is going to have to be moved to the front with a slim fan. The wire harness from the lancer will work but two clips will have to be spliced. Since you have a eclipse to salvage from all that should be good. I'd look on darkmitsus swap as he's completed it. One of the swaps had the motor mount picture of it I don't remember which did.

I was just looking at tail lights because I like the black euro evo 7ish style than the regular red/clear evo 7 tails but the ads say they only fit ES LS and not OZ? why wouldn't they fit?

That's what my ad on Ebay said as well. idk why it wouldn't fit, all the body styles are the same lol. But I bought them and they should be arriving by the end of the week. I'll post up pictures then I get them. But yea, they should fit, RRM sells them too so the Ebay sells must have something wrong on their end.

Edit: Finally got the tails in! Pretty dope! Makes the car look so much newer. Fitment could be better but hey! for 90 bucks, These tails were a steal! They are DEPO lights. Came in a Depo box WITH the lighting harness!

Update from the dead. Sorry for such a long time without any updates. It's been a tragic end to the project unfortunately. The car was totaled when a lady crossed a red light while I was heading down a hill with slush on it. Nothing could of saved me but all is well and dandy.

I did enter the dark side for awhile and put the project on hold. I went and picked up an EJ257 WRX. Pretty awesome daily but the gas started to get to me lol. I needed something more friendly for my commute.

Since I sold that I went out and bought a 2014 Mazda 3. I like it, the shifter is much more precise then the wrx and it's all around a better daily commuter.

But don't fret! I still plan on building the 4g64 but I think I'm gonna go with a Hyundai head instead.
