Head removal

I just picked this 02 OZ Rally because someone didn’t change the timing belt as required. Now the exhaust valves are bent. There does not seem to be any damage to the head but a friend said I should take it and have the head resurfaced as well as valve seats cleaned up. My question is does this head require this? I have not read anything on here about anyone else doing it so I am just wondering.

Head resurfaced...maybe not but if you bent valves you also want to look at the pistons and see if they were scored.

I looked at those also, there does not appear to be any damage to the pistons.
