Engine swap
Engine swap
I've heard that the V6 from the outlander fits inside of a GTS, is this true? i've been interested in swapping engines in my 08 GTS and changing from the CVT to a Manual transmission, i may also swap to a RWD drivetrain if i'm able to make this swap.
any thoughts?

I'm sure its possible, the outlander and lancer are the same platform. However, you would need the wiring harness, ecu, and transmission from an outlander. Also the RWD wouldn't be an easy option as the outlanders are AWD and FWD.
Compare the price of a used Ralliart or EVO vs. total cost to swap engine and tranny....
And down time for the car - this work won't fast or easy.
Include loss on the sale of your car (if there is one).

Okay, so maybe its not the best idea. As for the evo / ralliart I'm not interested in either. Thanks for the replies.
And I'd also like to add that with an AWD srivetrain it isn't to hard to modify it to a RWD, though you are moalwt likely sacrificing your AWD for good.
As for the downtime that doesn't bother me, I have another car and a motorcycle that I can use I was more interested in a summer project, but I think I've decided on a FJ40 as my project.

It's one thing to cost it to determine actual affordability, but I doubt anyone is seeking a financial return on investment.
OP, in case you decide to revisit this idea, here's some inspiration.

I find people under take these projects not as commercial ventures rather for their personal fulfillment.
