it depends on where u live, like me i live in canada and it went -50C last 2 months. i guess u'll never see that in CA.
in any case, i think as long as the RPM is under 1 is good enough.
one thing u have to remember how your engine works, the pistons are going up and down when u start the engine, and if theres no oil or too little, metals rubbing metals isnt a good idea and which will shorten the life of your engine down.

im pretty sure oil gets to almost all the parts in the engine after a minute. what you're really waiting for is for the piston to expand. you know how it is, when metal is heated up, it expands. when it's cold, the piston is smaller, creating somewhat of a gap that may lead to problems if you push the engine too hard.
i think in the manual it says to wait until the temp gauge starts rising and then you can drive. if you wait anymore than that then you are wasting fuel
