Thanks pgmike,
The reason I asked about the CAI is because with the RSX you need to cut into the bumper and relocate the washer bottle to get it to fit. I was thinking about getting their axleback, but I would really like to get a full exhaust and replace one of the two cats with a test pipe. I don't see how I could do all of that with $500 though...

Bitnode,
There is a RRM SRI on their website. Is this new?

She may not care as much about performance, but I'd feel cheap and used if I didn't add some go with her show.

she has an 04 OZ right? is it the kind with the grill connected to the hood and is chrome? if so its an 02-03, if the grill isnt connected to the hood than its and 04. if she has an 04 she should have gotten a ralliart... sigh, how i wish they made the ralliart engine in my 03 body... i can only dream.. or engine swap!!

the o4 vs o2 oz is identical with drivetrain i thought they just changed it the front end and trunk. the ralliart is a different story.

the RRM SRI should fit the 04 OZ b/c its the same engine as the 02-03 models. If you only got 500$ you may want to check the private for sale forums you may be able to pick up some of these parts cheaper from other members... ie ppl upgrading from axle to full exhaust, short ram to cai... etc... but everything from the 02-03 models should fit except for body mods i am not forsure about those parts since the body looks a lil different.

umm seems like you guys aren't very helpful to a newbie, especially a guy that owns a RSX and is helping his girlfriend out. In any case if you got 500 bucks to spend, the best bet is to get a catback and a SRI. I wouldn't recommend getting a CAI because you said its your GF's car, you want to have minimal worries for her so a CAI might get hydrolocked if shes not careful. And to go with a catback so then you'll be legal too, no hassle from the cops. Best bet is to find used parts cuz 500 bucks is a little stretch to get an intake and exhaust. Hope that helps dude. and good luck. add those 2 mods will make a some difference in performance but not a whole lotta. Worth it tho.

I've been looking through the personal classifieds, and all I've found so far was that RRM SRI for $100 shipped. Most of the stuff in there is for the EVO, so I haven't had much luck. Maybe I'll post a "wanted" add.

Also, any preferences for cat backs? I have a Greddy Evo on my RSX, but I think that may be a little too loud for her if they're comprable.

Thanks for everyone's help. I really appreciate it.

well pg mike you were quite rude, always yelling for him to search in almost every post, and not really reading his first post where he told you its an "04 OZ," nevertheless, what he was saying is that we were talking in OUR mumbojumbo and he, eventhough owns a RSX, may not have understood what we were saying

umm piggyback will give you the most bang for buck. the intake side of things isnt too bad stock and can be done cheaply later.
if you have a look at the recent post regarding dyno's the piggyback looks damm impressive (shame it isnt available for aussie cars *hint*hint* RRM)

if you dont want to go for the piggy back, and you have 500 to spend, do the CAI, headers, and testpipe. a catback doesnt really do all that much besides make more noise and open it up just barely at the top end(while sacrificing low end).

get the kamikaze header/downpipe - 260 bucks
test pipe - 70 (try to find a used one though for cheaper)
AEM CAI - 230 (can also be found for cheaper then what is on roadracemotorsports.com)

560 total, but can be brought down to 520-500 easy with a little research on places to buy from.

If you want a cat back i got a magnaflow off ebay for $305 shipped. Same one rrm has on ther website. It sounds sweet. The same person sold it for 380 the next week but be patient im sure that they will sell it again for the lower price. Ebay is also a good place to look for some stuff.

Peace

Perhaps it was because he made a long post and none of us with our attention defecit could read the entire thing, but I think most of the people on the first page failed to realize his main concern is whether the parts listed for the 02/03 Lancer would fit the 04.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the '04 OZ and ES are the sane in drive train, so most performance mods will fit just fine. Obviously, he won't be buying the grille for the 02/03 Now, the ralliart isn't compatible with any of them, but that's another story.

Piggyback is definitely the most power per $ spent (aside from a turbo) but you can't see it, so as said above, the intake, headers, exhaust route has more sound and sight to it.

I might be selling my RMR short ram, but I won't know until and if I trade intakes with Richard for a month to decide which is better (SRI or CAI). Anyway, welcome and happy tuning!

a SRI is decent for 100 shipped. the cai and piggyback wont do as much as it does for the rsx-s, but from what i have noticed with the sri, it noticably helps with the low end power. as for the piggyback, i have heard nothing but praises for that thing. unlike the cai for the rsx-s, it doesnt add 21hp for our cars.. i wish it did though. by the way, how's that hondata treatin u?
