Theoretical Header/Exhaust setup. Would it work?
I have read about 4-2-1 and 4-1 headers, however I was wondering if you changed the header design to a 4-2 then connected it to an x-pipe into dual exhaust if the engine would suffer or become unusable/unstable.
(I apologize for the large pictures)
Current header designs seem to look similar to this:

However, what if the collectors were split into 2 groups to be merged later down the line in an x-pipe. similar to this:

with the gasses merged into:

Finally ending in a dual muffler output.

Would this equate to a more exotic exhaust note, or end in A/F ignition failure with pressure regulation?

i would imagine the exhaust piping after the header would have to be smaller to create back pressure. either way though I'm sure you would lose power by doing this. if you want dual exhaust best bet would be an axelback setup
Certainly much heavier than a simple 4/2/1 header with a single exhaust. No real measurable performance gain either (IMHO).
Back pressure will not be an issue with either design, so no worries there.
So do it anyway because it looks sooo cool.
