Theoretical question... make a clone Evo 6 or buy another 9?
Curious what you guys think about the 2 following ideas.
Selling my daily beater (dodge neon) and getting...
A) an Evo 9 to put a terrifying amount of miles on.
OR
B) a 4 door mirage & an authentic JDM Evo 6 (swap everything over from the 6 onto the mirage...and get some RHD parts to make it tolerable for me to drive.
I figure both with roughly cost the same amount of money. the Evo 6 will be very cool and rare....even if it is a clone. The Evo 9 will require NO build time. I will just buy it and drive it. The Evo 6 will take a good bit of time putting together and a good bit of liquid assets.
The real underlying issue is that I hate driving neons. I've been spoiled by my wife's Jeep... it's sooo nice, but it's gutless. I'm thinking I want to have a car that I can drive and own...and just don't stress on the miles... just as long as I can keep up with the maintence. Leave it at a healthy 350whp on 92 octane and be happy it's not a Neon!
What say you northwesterners?

I have been thinking about building a tme 6.5 too. Cost would be around 10 to 12 grand. That's if your doing the labor yourself. The 9 would perform as well or better and be good to go now vs an 8 month build
A nice paint job on the 6 would put you at ~ 15k, good twin plate clutch, tires, shocks, and resto the brakes.... probably looking at nearly 20k.
I realize that it SHOULD be less money, but it won't. I've seen smaller snow ***** get out of control

I say go for whatever is cheaper. Hell keep the neon and dd it till it falls appart. I mean spending all kinda money on another evo or put the money into the mirage would be costly. If you wanted to buy another evo buy another one and use it as multi purpose.
It really depends if you would enjoy the build of the cloned 6, if such a build would constitute an enjoyable experience for you as it would many others on this forums such as myself, then go for it. If you are just itching to get out of your neon and into an evo then buy the IX or VIII. No one can make that decision for you unless they know what your likes/dislikes are.

Watch Special Stage. They float around legal in the US every once in awhile. Doing the swap is labor intensive but not impossible. A 2G auto rear subframe and components will be what you need to make the back work, the rest is normal Evo and then body panels.
I would not own a RHD in Murika at all.

Also think about what you will do when youve dumped that much liquid assets into the mirage. You would most likely want to get it appraised so you could insure it for more than what it Kbb's for. God forbid it gets stolen or wrecked by some silver haired wonder running you off the road. At least with the VIII or IX you will have a newer drivetrain, and your investment would be insured with proper full coverage...
