Theoretical question... make a clone Evo 6 or buy another 9?

wish the 15 year import law came through, would have worked out nicely.. would youwanna put miles on a 6 if you built it, even if it were a clone??

this is kind of an aside, but have you ever conisdered an 04-05 forester xt? yeayea subie but those cars are pretty damn amazing, especially for a DD.. at least worth a 5 minute consideration

+1 TRILLION!!! These were/are my exact thoughts. I rode in Jason's X MR and I was impressed too say the least with the stock power and how it shifted. But my issue is the $$$ on the X. I agree the IX and call it a day Eric. BTW, my choice would be a IX MR as a DD if I could buy another one.

I agree. I loved my X MR, but it was just a really different. Like it was meant to be on the street with your nice seats and the nav, and way too many speakers. The 8's and 9's are just pure raw. Besides, all those sensors really did nothing but **** me off.

Buy a foreclosed house. The market is a buyers market right now for sure. Especially in our area. Then Buy a theft recovery IX from auction and put some massive miles on it. With your mechanical know how you could maintain it easily.

This way you're being smart with your money as well as having a fun daily driver.

Just my opinion.

Buy the stock 9. You'll have the resale value there if you should ever decide to sell. Plus having a project as a daily driver defeats the purpose.

if you import a 6 and want it legally, it can only be imported as a race vehicle, no registering it. if your down for a project, do the swap, go to www.mirageforums.net and look through the swap section. it is a lot of work and if done right, you'll be a very happy person. im converting my 94 mirage into an evo 3. except its my dd. so fwd 4g63t for now. but if you are thinking of a project. you will need a place to do it and store it for probably 8 months or so depending on funds and time is whether or not it will be less than or more than 8 months. me personally, i would have a 6 clone. there's an evo 4 swap on lynnwood craigslist right now too. because everyone has a 9. no offense. id love a 9, but there is something about being unique. just my 2 cents.

Buy my IX and have a clone of yours.

Renting is going to be cheaper than buying a house for the foreseable future, especially in Bham. I'd just keep adding money to your house fund for a downpayment.

What it would come down to for me is whether you want something "off the shelf" or something different. Anyone with a wad of cash and/or decent credit can have a stock IX. How many folks have an Evo VI, even if it's a conversion?

lol exactly.

I would not own a RHD in Murika at all.

Why not? I've got a couple friends with RHD cars (both conversions and actual JDM cars).

Next year or the year after, I plan to get a 2010 X MR Touring, fully loaded. Then some basic bolt-ons (read: aim for 400whp), DFV's, trans cooler and replacement clutch packs, and call it macaroni.

My plan anyway. DD that for 2 or so then upgrade to a GTR. Or die next Dec.

^^ Totally agree with this, I hate being a jerk to the X people, but it's just not an Evo like the earlier ones.

You got rid of your X Keith?

I've driven a few RHD cars here in the US of motha fu**ing Eh, and it sucks. Passing on mountian roads is nearly impossible if you're behind a semi. You essentially have to have the car in the oncoming lane to see if it's clear to pass. Don't bother with drive thrus if your solo. Our infrastructure is let up around LHD.

A LHD TME 6.5 would be sick IMHO. I'm not too keen on conversions though, you don't get the IHI turbo, poly bushings, etc, the stuff that made the 6.5 a 6.5.

Passing on mountain roads never even occurred to me... We don't have those around here lol.
