Dump tube?

My friend was telling me about a dump tube. Ive never heard of it before but he says that it is a tube right after the manifold that will let me switch from stock exhaust to basically an open tube right under the motor that can be switched from one to the other by a valve that is controlled by a switch in the car. What do you guys think about this? I want my car to be really quiet for normal driving but wouldnt mind it being really loud for those short periods when im racing.

186 for the cut out and y pipe assembly (includes wiring and switch) from quicktimeperformance.com...
welding and wiring price varies due to whoever welds it and wires it for you

Exactly where were you planning on "dumping" it? If you do it too close to your engine, you're gonna lose all torque and risk getting elements inside the engine. If you have it at least a little bit down from the manifold, you should be ok. Still a loss of torque, but if all you want is sound, great. But if you wanna win...

The loss of torque may not be so bad once he puts on that turbo. Now if he was going to be running that NA, bad idea.

What's the chances of that making life difficult when getting inspections?

Since you have a turbo, it will drop back pressure which will allow for quicker spool up times on less boost creep. Good investment for 186 bones.
