Overheating on 30 min trip with ac
Overheating on 30 min trip with ac
03 Lancer overheating while on a 30 min trip. It stops overheating when the AC is turned off.
Recently replaced
Waterpump
timing belt
thermostat
fan control module
Removal of ac shim
I noticed that when I got the car back from the shop that it had a supercharger whine to it. I assumed that was because of using a gates belt. Not sure now if its the waterpump that was just put in or the head gasket. Im not getting smoke from the pipe or seeing anything milky in the oil. I just removed the cap from the radiator and started the car. I noticed about 4 small air bubbles but nothing else. I cant tell if the water is vortexing or oscillating. Its slowly pushing the water out of the radiator drip at a time with the cap off. When I accelerate it pushes the water out faster. So I am not sure if this is the radiator, new waterpump failing, or blown head gasket.
I can take video if necessary.
Thanks for any input

I see now that I should have included more information then I did.
Its my wifes car. She was coming home from work about 6 months ago and the car overheated. She said the second it got to the H mark, she shut of the engine. She called me and I instructed her to let it cool off before making the last 3 blocks of her trip home. I checked everything out and found that t he fan control module had **** the sheets so I replaced that. It still wanted to overheat.
I then had the water pump, timing belt and thermostat replaced. For the last 6 months its been fine other than that supercharger like whine that it had. (again assuming it was the gates belt)
The ac shim was removed to put the gap within tolerance last month. As far as I can tell its working as expected. cut it on, clutch engages. Cut it off, it freewheels. I dont know anything about AC so if I am missing something, or some test I should preform on it, please let me know.
I get the feeling its not the AC, but I would like to explore every avenue before looking at the head. Its hot as F*&^ here in FL and my garage is even hotter. So if you have any suggestions for test I should preform, please let me know. Im really hoping to avoid doing a head gasket in this heat.
The one thing that makes me think it is a head gasket is the water coming out of the top of the radiator when I accelerate. On my 03, when you remove the cap and accelerate, the water goes down not up and over like hers is doing.
Thanks
