Exclamation Your RPMs on ignition switch?

It hits at 2500 for about 3-5secs, is that normal? Whats everybody else RPMs when the ignition is switched on.

i dunno...i tried taking apart my cluster to put blue lights behind it...now my rpm light doesnt work, my rpm gauge doesnt move, and my speedo gauge sticks...like im doin 35 and its at 25, or im doin 55 and its at 40...or im doin 40 and its still at 55...it sucks hardcore when ur alone and a cops behind you...i just turn off right away lmao.

mine did that after i got my intake, i can tell it revs high at startup, especially if its a little cold.

arth, if im not mistaken that would be your automatic chock(not sure if thats spelled right). It does that to make your engine heat up faster.

Depends on who you ask. I've heard that it's normal from lots of people on this board, but my fiance thinks my car is gonna die because her dad's did it right before dying.

If it's only 5 seconds, you're lucky. Mine is like 1-2 minutes.

Yup, mine stays up there for a while...until it warms up and it slowly goes down.

Whatever you do... dont rev your car after ignition. The engine isnt properly lubricated yet. You have to wait till the temp gauge is between the 1/4 and 1/2 (operating temperature) mark to start driving it hard. The reason your car revs up (on it's own) at ignition is to get the oil flow started quicker.
