Exercise in creative thinking, sleeved 4b11 vs 4b11T

Hello everyone, your resident forum stalker here finally decided to make an account and share an idea I had for a project I'm working on.

The project is still in its fairly early stages but we've finished the chassis modifications necessary and are starting to look at the drivetrain, the car still has some work to be done to it so we are planning the engine build for April - may 2020.

The idea I had came up when talking to a friend who primarily builds Hondas and and some toyotas.

Aside from the beefed up internals and better flowing head my understanding is that the primary advantage of the 4b11T is a semi closed deck compared to the open deck on the normal 4b11, although it has some other advantages the main one is that it makes the engine stronger under boost.

If I was going to build the other internals anyway I was curious how a sleeved 4b11 engine would stack up compared to the stock block on a 4b11T?

Has anyone ever done this or something similar?

Hi CMGlenn, Look at the crank journal sizes of a 4B11T compared to a 4B11.....lots more differences between the 2 engines than a closed deck. However, Hyundai happily use what is essentially a standard 4B11 engine as the basis for their turbo engine so they are reasonably confident that the block and crank can take the load until warranty runs out. Not sure what boost they run???
