Alright, what I'm about to say is purly hypathetical. I just wanted to see what kind of responds I would get.
If I was ever thing of doing some kind of engine swap with me car what would be the best engine (aka easiest to install and cost efficant) for the lancer...if any. thanks!

I wait for the day when the swap questions will end...as if 1 FAQ ain't enough...
Sorry guys, but as you all now the Lancer that most of us bought didn't come with any major horsepower. And pleaes don't tell me to just save up for a EVO, because in reality...and EVO has pretty much everything I want on it at an okay price, however with most "young people" they get bored of the car that they have after a few years, if you have nothing more to do with it. The EVO 8 that is coming out as pretty much everything I want...there wouldn't be much I would upgrade. I might spend 2'000-3'000 dollars more on it, but it wouldn't keep me occupied long enough.
But with the Lancer 2002 it was in my price range for a "young" teenager and I just thought to myself ::I will be able to continually upgrade this baby for years to come:: this in the end would allow me not do get so bored of it. The only downside to that is the ****ty *** horsepower I start out with. 120hp at the flywheel and only 103.2hp to the ground isn't much at all. Even if I turbocharge it I'm still not looking at anything close to the EVO.
My final goal with my lancer is to convert it (most of it) to an EVO replica, something around 250 horsepower (without nos).

Again...mod what you've got. Turbocharge, maybe some internals when you raise the boost, boost control, exhaust to match, LSD, wheels and tires, clutch, and flywheel and you're pretty much set. Problem solved. 250hp...viola!
Unlike you, I don't know where to find all these products. Lets say you know 100% on cars (which you don't), but I'm going to use you as the base model here. I would know about 15% of what you know, therefore...how the hell I'm I going to know how to do everything, where do get it. When I hardly have time to post anything on this forum. I post here probably once every week.
I really know next to nothing. Everything I know about this car was posted somewhere else on this forum. I came here knowing absolutely nothing and now I know slightly more than nothing.
RRM has turbo kits that will run you about 4g's intercooled. RPW may have theirs out soon, and I don't know what happens with Shark Racing's, but I'm assuming it's not happening because I haven't heard a think about it since it was first mentioned. Boost gauges you can go just about any company. RRM makes a front LSD, wheels and tires are obviously youre choice and uh...clutch and stuff I dunno about. It's definitely doable though on current parts. It'd just take a lotta elbow grease. Talk to boni and zlancer too if you're serious about it. They're running the only two boosted Lancers I'm aware of. Most importantly of all. Good luck.

Just for info. Turbo is it. To get that h.p. need a few extra mods. Having forged pistons made as we speak. Pulled stock ones today and will now more soon. Forged pistons will make bigger boost possible!!!

you guys are lucky.. relatively simple engine, .2liters more than i have, no stupid computer controlling the cams..
turbo should be easy, or raise compression.. 2.0 litres is gonna give some nice torque numbers if it's modded a little.. and in the quarter, torque is king!

I totally agree on that whole simple engine thing. My friend with the Base RSX might have to take his into a shop to do any work on anything other than an intake. I mean, I popped the hood, and the thing was STUFFED in there... and it's the same displacement, and even with massive amounts of NA mods, the best you can look forward to is a 15.9 1/4 mile time. Maybe 15.7 for 2K worth of parts.
Yay for simplicity.

If you want cheap and easy power go turbo ( I know $4k isnt cheap) or you can go NA (really expensive and hard). But that would be really really hard right now since people are just now rolling out their turbo's for our car.
I'm looking towards the idea of sawping a 4g64 into my Lancer but have no clue what I need to look at to make sure it works. Once the house is sold, parents divorce is final and mom and I get another house, the project will be on

Swaps really aren't practical unless you plan on making a conversion car.
For the (let's just say) 4g's you'd spend for an NA 4g64 to be swapped in you could have an intercooled turbo kit running 5-6 psi with more HP than the untuned 4g64 and easily upgradable with the money you might have spent just turboing or upgrading the 4g64. I don't understand why pragmatism seems to have gone the way of the dodo.
EDIT: RRM's done 2 complete turbo installs with absolute successes and RPW converted piping for the 4g94 from the 4g93 meaning we should have similar (slightly better due to our increased displacement) results...both dyno tested and proven. And there's always self-made and custom jobs. Both kits available at present are made by reputable companies who know their stuff.
EDITED EDIT: RRM's done more than that...I forgot the auto Lancer and whatever they've done in the shop. I was referring specifically to the MI Lancer and Boni's car.

how much hp and torque is gained by putting a intercooled turbo on the lancer??
i cant do it at the moment but i plan to go through with it in the future...unless i hit the lottery and buy an evo or an M3
