Question Resonators and mufflers

I have a couple questions.....What gives better sound suppression, a muffler or resonator? If I want a low toned exhaust would I be better off getting 2 mufflers or a resonator and a muffler? I have a custom cat back that I want to put on but I am putting my own accessories on it. Let me know what you guys think or know.

Well, to be honest, a resonator wont do anything but quiet the exhuast, which is what it soundsl ike you want. But, I would go with a custom catback from a shop with no resonator with a magnaflow muffler which will give u a nice low, non-ricey tone. I had that set up for almost a year and loved it and just currently changed because my mods changed ( and soon will be going 2.5" because of the turbo )

hope this helped and good luck.

get the magnaflow catback then a test pipe and it sounds really good. WIth the catback it doesnt sound loud at all and the testpipe just made it a little bit louder, i love the sound.

I rode in GuruDel's Lancer with a Magnaflow. Very mellow but deep tone. I don't want to attract much attention on the streets, so I'm most likely going with that one too.

all the resonator will do is help suppress the sound of the exhaust tone. All of the Magnaflow catbacks come with a resonator/muffler combo. Each are designed specifically for the car. Yes, you can do just a custom catback with just a Magnaflow muffler, but it will be loud. If you want loud then do it, but an addition of a resonator later on is always a possiblity if you are getting to loud. The tone will be low and throaty, nothing ricey like most honda's with blown out resonators have.

Vince's car sounds nice, I had Magnaflow make me a custom catback system right now, cause with the turbo the catback they sell was to quite, so I had them remove the muffler and I am now just running a small resonator and 2.25" pipe all the way through. Sound is so much better!!! That is only something i would reccomend for turbo guys though...
