Question Spark Plug Question

I looked everywhere in the forums and found no other posts to help me. I want to put in some Denso spark plugs. Here is the bad part, I can't find the god damn spark plugs. When you are done laughing, could someone tell me where to locate? I'm guessing I need to take off the valve cover, but just wanted to check first. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Er...no valve cover removal necessary unless you want to put in 5x more work then necessary.

The plugs are located under the two coils (small black boxes) and the small, rubber, round plugs on the valve cover, closer to the passenger compartment.

In the image, look for the small red lines. That's where you'll find the plugs.

Thanks pjal. Do I just unscrew the two coils to gain access, and what should I use to pop off the rubber plugs? I know when I changed the plugs in my Jetta, I fractured the connetors and had to buy new cables for $100. I don't want to repeat.

Coils need to come up and off to get access to the plug. The rubber caps will come off with gentle tugging and twisting. As a good rule of thumb is, if you're think you're trying to hard, odds are you are and you're gonna break something. Changed the plugs on mine way long time back and it was bing bang boom. Oh yeah, remember, make sure you've got a gap tool to measure out the spark plug gap. Just curious, tell me how the plugs look tomorrow. I'm pretty sure they'll be blacker than night and carbonized to no end...yuck. Always good to replace.

You are the ****, this for you. Actually, the plugs are on the way, but I'll let you know what they look like when I replace. Have the gapping tool already, what is the proper gap, I don't rememeber seeing the spec in the owner's manual.

Oh yea, can you tell me a little about these timing advance Mod kits I see on ebay, that are supposed to add like 20 hp. They are supposed to trick the engine into thinking the air coming in is cooler than it is. Its just a resistor, but is it safe and/or worth it. If so, where is the IAT (Intake Air Temperature Sensor)?

Thanks again man, I really appreciate the advice. This forum phukin rules.

Denso Iridium. However, from what I gather on this forum, copper plugs are the way to go, as long as you don't mind changing them every 10k miles.

Just got and replaced the plugs, I can tell a little difference, but the quality and longevity are what I was going after. pjal, considering there is only 2200 miles on the orginal plugs, they are pretty dark.

A gap is that thing between a girls legs
As far as plugs are concerned, the gap is the space between the two electrodes at the end of the plug. The Denso plugs are already gapped correctly, as long as you get the right ones, but I forget the itme #. don't gap the Denso ones yourself or you'll **** em up.

try ptuning.com for the magnecor 8.5mm, this is one of the cheapest places I found.
