if i recall, the original rrm ecu reflash would raise your rev limiter .. but the new piggyback unit doesn't. i think the only way to up the rev limiter for rpm is to have your ecu tuned or re-flashed with new code which allows it to be higher.

tis too bad people like al (dynoflash) don't offer a reflash for the NA lancer

there are local dyno turning shops that'll plug right into my ecu and change that, call around.

Redline factory safe

Hey , yes the RRM piggyback will adjust the redline (minimally-only 100's) but the main reason for the redline is that at that point engine turbulance is a key concern ( ie- shimmying at higher rev's/ speeds ) . The best answer to the issue isto have your internals balanced ( Crank , conrods ; stronger valve springs ; and better retainers ) . A good example of the concept is the RX-8's ability to redline at appox. 8-9k because of the rotary design . Central balancing .

Comparing the rotary redline and any other engines redline is bad news... the rotary has a near endless tach swing because of one simple fact... NO VALVETRAIN. No valvetrain means no floating.

To better compare something with a retarded redline, use the S2000.

Your not gaining anything after 5700 RPM so whats the point. Its not like you have MIVEC or V-TEC. Shifting to the next gear when your at at 5700 RPM and picking it up between 3000-4000 rpm is faster then staying in your current gear and waiting for the redline or the revlimiter..

Um, my dyno sheet kinda disagrees with you. My HP was climbing and continuing to climb at redline. Higher HP equals faster speed. So if I could suddenly add an extra 1000 rpm, it would make my car that much faster (assuming drag racing and such applications).

Iam talking about stock. If you look at the optimum power band it is between 3200 RPM and 5700 RPM. The Horsepower climbs from bottom of the gear and goes up. It peeks at 5750 RPM and starts to drop from there. The the optium torque is between 3200 and 4750 RPM. Since to have optium aceleration in a gear you need both horsepower and torque you need to find the where the best of both is.

Lets remember that horsepower is a bi-product of torque and that:
HP= (TorqueXRPM)/5252

You will realize that horsepower is almost useless with out torque.

Dont bring Honda's and Mitsubishi;s with Mivec or V-Tec into this since there verible valves acheave best power at high HP and Low Torque. It is a different system all togeather.
