I don't even have the OZ anymore so I wonder if that was the reason I had to replace the fam shroud since it melted, or if Mitsubishi will pay me back

I went in this morning to get it done.... Yeah, they were "out" of them. "We called all the other dealers in the area, but they were out also." So, waiting to get some other work done, and looking at the MR, sure enough, I wander back to the service department and there was someone else there who (although had gotten there after me) still managed to have her's replaced!

Yeah, they replaced hers, even though she got there after me. I asked her, and she said she heard about it and just stopped in, no appointment or anything.

From what I hear about it, you really don't have to worry about anything. UNLESS, 1) you turn off the car and your A/C is still running, or 2) your car is heating faster than normal (or starts overheating). If either of those happen, you need to get it checked out ASAP!

Great, this just after I started putting in my turbo kit and cut my radiator fan shroud in half. The dealership will love it when I pull up for a recall and see what I did to the stock setup . Hopefully this won't happen to my Lancer *fingers crossed*

Try calling them to see if yours is effected or not.... Maybe you'll get lucky and it won't be.

They asked me for a vin once when I was checking the value of the spare MAS I had. I got a vin off of Autotrader and used that

I'll call once I get my kit fully in. I can't really make an appointment when I can't even drive my car

Try asking them what ones are effected, THEN go and check and compare it with your VIN!

Well, apparently mine is being recalled, he says it will take 60 - 90 minutes to replace, and of course they won't do it on a weekend "cause they won't have any factory techs on hand in case something doesn't go right." so now I'm gonna have to take time off work to get my car fixed, damn it all

yeah i hear you on that one bro. when i was talking to the service department i immediately mentioned that my car was heavily modified. the guy quickly said "well its a recall, so we'll definately honor it. as far as your warranty goes..... ummmm yeah thats probably voided, but thats a different matter." so no worries . but the dealer where i bought my car from, and the dealer that my buddy bought his car from both said that its for all year lancers so you might want to check it out.

Damn. Stupid Lancers. Oh well, only one recall compared to my roommates Spec that has 5 already. I already told the guy I bought the car from that I'm installing a turbo kit, so if he blew the whistle already it really won't matter. Guess I'll call the dealership next week (turbo should be in by then) and see what they have to say.

twardozrally, your dealership sounds a little sketchy. It only takes 30 mins or less and I dont really see how anything "major" can go wrong. If there are any other dealerships near you I'd check them out. They might be more helpful.

The reciept I got for the recall work stated that they needed to fix it on account of a soldiering connecting that has been known to break causing the unit to overheat or something to that effect.
