Still quicker than your run of the mill Civic, Focus, or Neon.

5 spd... decent accleration, decent throttle response... it'll quicken up with some mods, though.

Auto... to quote Bobby Dinero.... I've heard things.

My dad told me to look up a KandN Airfilter with intake, he said that should boost HP.

lancer is really slow and the fwd sucks, i regret getting mine, i recommend you buy a cheap car and drive around and figure out what type of car you want before you spend all the money on a new car, i bought mine as my first car cause i thought it looked cool and i didn't care about performance, but now i'm reallly into performance and i'm kinda pissed because i realize i could of gotten a much better car for the same price or cheaper just a few years old

RRM and RMR both have K&N air filters for sale. Both come with optional heatshield if you want. Use the search button and you should find some old threads describing certain things about these SRI's.

Dude, calm down man. OzRALLY7171 wanted opinions and anyone is entitled their own opinion and ratboy gave his. No need to insult him for giving an opinion.

So is their not a parts index and a rather well written (albeit very simplistic) tuning guide on the forum? Definitely take your first peeks there.

Ah yes an RS. Definitely one of my top contenders for my next car. Not the beast the Rex is, but fully capable of using the same suspension mods as the Rex which is the really attractive feature. Good choice.

if you're gonna turbo the lancer, and leave the stang stock, i'd say go with that. but if you want a fun car to tune, etc., get the stang. much more aftermarket parts, ways to go, different options with the mustang, plus ability to make it VERY fast. don't worry about it being your first car....it's not the car it's the driver.
