Finding good mufflers on ebay

I'm looking to maybe do a custom exhaust with 2 1/2 inch piping. I'd like to find a muffler on ebay though that wasn't trash for under 60 shipped. If anyone has any experience with a seller or if anyone can help me find a brand name muffler on there, post a link here please. PS.. preferably I'd like somethin in the medium range, not dead quiet like stock is but not extremely loud... but if all you find is an Apexi N1 (loud) I don't care please post the link anyways!

I am assuming you're more concerned about sound than performance? If so, just find a good axle-back muffler by listening to friends' cars as well as see what people say on this thread. The bad part of the forum is you really can't hear what they think is a "nice" sound. If you're concerned about performance, I wouldn't recommend 2.5

check out my thread here it has vids with sound of my intake and magnaflow catback, and after vids with my kamikaze header and downpipe. after watching and hearing the vids, you'll see why everyone loves the magnaflow exhaust

You could do what I did. I had my local exhaust shop make me a cat-back with 2.25 inch piping all the way, and put a magnaflow on it. It sounds so nice. The guy that made mine let me listen to 4 different mufflers and after hearing all of them, I went with the magnaflow. I think it was 14 in. long(the muffler that is). The performance upgrade as well as the sound made my $300 worth every penny.

Yeah I thought of that right after I made my post, but heck being a musician, I think that internet sound clips are poor quality. But I guess for exhaust sound it can be accurate enough.

yeah, i reckon its close enough for our purpose, at least enough to distinguish fart can from deep tone

what i really would like to see is an archive of sound clips for different exhaust systems and mufflers, with cats and without, with test pipes, different headers, etc etc.
