Last night i got pull over for drag racing!!!! I was with my girlfriend on the way home from dinner. I was dring on a 4 lane high way when a gti came up to me i was in 2ndgear going 20 because i just turned on to the street. A 23 year old guy came up to me in a gti and started reving his engine.All i did was step on the gas untill i hit 45 mph. the posted speed limit. I guess a cop heard me and we both got a tickect for drag racing. BULL**** now i have to hire a lawyer and go to court and i have traffic school dec 28 tommrrow for speeding. I must have some bad luck all in 2 months of my new car. Before i drove a minivan for 2 years and speed with out and tickets. Lancers must be cursed!!! So what should i say in court and to my lawyer. Let me know if this happen to any of you. thanks

Simple. Just tell them how fast you were going. What evidence does the cop have of you drag racing? What he heard? Good god. I'd laugh all day in court on that one. I'd be pretty surprised if things didn't work out in your favor.

The cop mistook what was going on, and you weren't even speeding. Just an overzealous guy with a badge.

 

plus tell him that you know thier is no cance in hell beating the gti
and try getting it busted down to a exhaust ticket i know they give them in ny. good luck with that

 

I've had my yellow lancer for a whole year, haven't had any cop problems yet!

And I've been driving around with my Kamikaze header, RRM test pipe, RRM Muffler, Intake, etc..

 

I only got a ticket for drag racing. So dumb i hate stupid police!!
the defination for drag racing=A race between two cars to determine which can accelerate faster from a standstill.
I was not at a stand still so therfore the tickect is POO.

i dont think he has any evidence of u draggin racing...it happen to me once but i was racing wit my friend up the hills wit my corolla haha...but i got pulled over coz i was slower and the police said i kno u two where racing and i was like wat i was goin up hill and he could do anything about it but instead gave me a ticket for crossing hte solid double yellow lanes which i doubt i did so i went to court but he never showed it and the case was closed...end of story

 

Yeah tell him you can't beat a GTi.. But we all know that GTi's are takable.

If the judge asks why you were accelerating fast, then just give him some bullshyt excuse, pie in the oven, catch your faorite show, etc. You never went beyond the limit, so the cop made an error in his decision. BTW, don't be surprised if the cop shows up. Don't let him intimidate you. And also, I would suggest tossing out any mods that aren't street legal on your car for a few weeks.

same thing happened to me a few monthes ago.. i was just speeding and my lie was "i guess he was trying to get me, but i held my own lane!" i got off with a warning. plus, cops are trying to make their end of the month quota -so it was probably a stupid idiot cop

 

i think they can actually give you a ticket for accelerating really fast even if you don't break the speed limit, i think its under exhibition of speed, also check and see if "drag racing" is a real ticket, i know in california they call it speed contest but if he wrote "drag racing" on the ticket and that isn't the exact name of a real violation i think your off free

 

I only have an RRM intak and OBX exhaust. I told the cop i wasnt speeding he said he didnt care. But that i was drag racing. He could have given me a ticket for no front plate. so we will see what happens i hope i get off. But it would be kinda badass to spend 30 days in jail just to brag to everyone that ive been in jail. Im so funny. Back off to researching

 

guess u should get a radar detector. ive had my lancer since jan and ive gotten pulled over a **** load of times, of course being in the marines has gotten me out of most of the tickest, but ive still gotten like 2 or 3 speeding tickets. oh well though...

 

wow!! thats gay!!! thats what i do....i juss speed up till the speed limit or like 5 over!! they can give you a ticket for that??? juss say, i dont see what wrong with accelerating up to the speed limit? or juss say your car is loud! i dunno, ive never been pulled over! ::knock on wood:: i dont see how its racing going under the speed limit?? is it illegal to gas it until 45? i dunno, juss say stuff like that, juss dont be an ***!

 

lol i have a radar/laser detector and a radar/laser jammer. He wasnt radaring or lasering. I also train the local police departments how to search and rescue scuba diving. Man o Man i cant wait till i have to instruct this *** hole. I going to fall him and fall him for little pointless **** and take his money. I cant wait and trust that date will be this summer
