Tire pressure

Hello
Just got back into town and I had to get my girlfriends car ready for her when she gets back from break. Anyway after I gassed up I checked her tire pressure and it was like 20psi. I put them all to 37psi.

What is the best tire pressure for performance low profiles like the 205/40/17 tire?

Just making sure I didn't put them too high.

thanks

37psi is probably a bit high for a good low-profile high performance tire for street use. The stiff sidewalls in such tires do not require a lot of air pressure compared to a higher-profile, all-season design. I'd tend to keep it closer to 30psi with the fronts 2-3psi higher than the rears.

consult your tire's manual, or talk to the manufacturer about what the correct tire pressure is for your specific tire. each tire is different, depending on compound, tread, sidewall, etc...there's a lot that determines the correct pressure. find out for sure from the manufacturer. i was very surprised to learn from the owner's manual that hte stock tire pressure is 29 and 26 psi. look at the books, don't guess.
