Aftermarket Battery
GUys, I'm looking for an aftermarket battery...what is good?
I was thinking Optima, but I want the blue top (marine)...red will f-up the color under the hood...any ideas or other battery companies?

I'd be picking the battery based on what it does, not because of whether it matches your color scheme or not.
The RED tops provide more cranking amps and high output and are the best for the main battery.
The YELLOW's are deep cycle. They are great for a car with a lot of accesories (big sound system, flashy lights, etc.) They can survive being run down to their minimum and recharged more then the rest. They can be used as a car's only battery, but aren't as high outpt as the red's.
Have no clue why or what you would want a blue top for in a car. Probably not a good idea. The best setup would be two. A red for under the hood and a yellow in the trunk for running your amps. But only if you use your system for extended amounts of time with the engine off.
BTW, I speaking of the Optima color codes. Of which I have a yellow top in my car.

Depends on what you want it for. Just for starting the car and light acc, just get an oddyssey. A lot lighter than the optima. If you really need 800 CCA (overkill for anyone but northern states) then get the optima.
See the lancer shopper for a pic.

(sorry to bring this old thread but i didnt want to start a new one) i have the same question. and i know the yellow is the best and red is right under it but how does the marine one hold out? i want blue, only reason why im gettin the marine one. i DO NOT want red or yellow, but if its absolutely necessary then i will. i just want to know if the blue top will work, and how well it will work.
Dont apoligise. Iam glad to see someone using old threads rather then making new ones.
You could use a marine battery but there is 2 problems. The first is that they are not ment for cold starts. I know this doesnt apply for you but for a lot of us who get snow will have problems starting in the winter. The other problem is the price. Marine batteries are always more expensive.
A yellow top batterie is good for those of us who live in the winter. The deep cycle really helps with those cold winter starts. A red Top is a very high powered batterie. If you have a big stereo, a lot of acessories and arnt relying on it in the heart of winter then it is a good choice.
If you are looking for a battery to crank your engine in mild-hot weather and dont have a ton of power robbing acessories then a regular OEM replacement battery is suficient.
Generally speaking If you have Underglow 4+ subs and 2 amps a fuzz buster and what ever else then maybe for you a good red top or yellow top is in order. For the rest of us running mild-medium sound systems and a few acessories a standard battery is usually fine.
