Hey N1te, i have a question about the Bomz intake...
I was planning on buying that Bomz intake, and Lone22Fox recommended me asking you since you have the same setup.
I was thinking about buying this intake
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634
I was wondering, does it actually affect the performance at all, and does it still give that cool "intake sound" even though its a $25 intake? Is it worth buying, and is it pretty easy to install?
Thanks in advance.

Yea, it would probably give you that cool intake sound.. just be careful of fitment on those ebay cheap intakes. I have heard from people that some of them don't fit the best. I didn't go the cheap route for an intake, I got the Injen Short Ram intake. Couldn't be happier. Huge "intake sound" and very noticable performance gain in overall acceleration.
Fox is all over these boards.. man! Well, I got an Ebay CAI not a short ram, but I ended up converting it to short ram because of the winter snow and spring rain. It is the ebay filter and all that though and I can help answer your questions. Yes it affects the performance but if you want noticeable gains, the best thing you can do is get the ebay intake, a heat shield, and a K&n cone filter... that should run you 60 for the filter and head shield. For the piping and the stuff that comes with the short ram off ebay.. A pipe is just a pipe. A metal pipe is just a metal pipe.... but the good companies use a good air filter. If you just leave it the way it is, even the ebay short ram is better than stock and it definately gives you that intake sound. Install is really easy and should only take you about 45 minutes. In my opinion... It is definately worth buying, but go the extra legnth if you can and get the k&n filter because there is a difference between that and the ebay filters, and get the heat shield. Your spending 80-90 bucks on everything, which is still 70 bucks cheaper than Injen's or RRM's. If there is a difference, the 2hp isnt really worth 70 bucks... I just got headers for 75 bucks off ebay and a piggyback ecy for 275... if you want to talk about gains, those will do it. Save your 75 bucks and enjoy your new short ram intake man

if ur going for intake upgade go for something better. brand that would realy give u the extra HP that u wanted. i had a K&N short ram installed on my car, u can feel the fast acceleration compared to stock.

Alright, thanks, and sorry i wasnt on AIM.
Could someone just link me to the other SRI systems you guys told me about? Also, how much would a "good" filter cost me?

There are a thousand reviews on the Bomz intake but you have to bring up the threads from the beginning before you do your search.
All people did was put on a KN filter instead of the Bomz one to make sure the filtration was up to par.
I myself have the RMR SR intake. It has a heat shield and looks better in the engine bay.

^ That is the best crafted, greatest design for a SRI in the Lancer that I have seen. RMR really did a good job on that one.
In regards to the Bomz intake. You will get the intake sound, a small performance gain. You get what you pay for though. I Would be making a support bracket for my MAS just to be on the safe side (course I do that for any intake).

dude, if you shop around, people are going back to stock on this site al lthe time or upgrading and sell their intakes cheap. I jsut got an rrm sri from a dude on here for 55$ plus shipping w/ the k&n filter. You just have to dig a bit.

Haven't read the above replies, so please don't bite my head off if I repeat something that's already been said
When it comes to Short Ram Intake, given the amount of power it provides, you could go with anything, yes anything. As long as you can hook it up to your mas(with an adapter plate.) What you have to be carefull with is the Filter, not the assembly... the FILTER. Don't give a damn about the piping(unless it's bent in every possible way). Care about the filter.
Let say you buy your-self a nice intake from AEM, but replace the filter by a Wallmart type filter. Even if it says AEM on the pipe, it won't do ****. There are many kinds of filters out there, just pick the one that fits your budget. But don't forget... a filter should last you a while. It should, in theory, outlive your car. So don't be afraid to pay top dollars.
I only have experience with K&N, so I can't say much about other filters. My K&N has seen 2 cars and 175000km. In total, it costed me 100Cdn$/filter + 15Cdn$/Cleaning kit. 115$/175000Km is a fairly good ratio if you ask me.

Alright, well so far im going to order the Bomz intake and once i get that, im going to search around for a filter. I just have a few more questions, please bare with me since im not too "car literate". I heard its pretty easy to install, think i could get away with installing it on my own (with the assistance of my dad if i need it), and im 16 and not too educated on cars. Would it show a very small increase in performance, or can i even feel it? How often do i need to change the filter, and how do i do it, just regular water?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Also, this is kind of urgent.
If i bought this...

Would i be able to install it right away, or do i need any more parts or adapters? It says it includes an MAF adapter.

You will notice a difference in acceleration the second you put it on your car. The install is very easy and you can do it yourself. Everything you need to unscrew is out in the open and comes off easy. When it comes to washing the filter, I recommend the K&N filter cleaning kit. It has detailed instructions on how to wash out the filter. 1. Remove air filter. 2. Spray special filter cleaner on filter. 3. Rinse out gently with water (you may also use a gentle brush to get dirt out). 4. Let dry thoroughly. 5. Spray light coat of K&N filter oil on your filter. 6. Install filter. <--basically thats it.
edit: oh sorry, I clean my filter every oil change.
