No. The 4g63T's available in the US would not fit Evos 4-8. There is enough SPACE in our bays for one, but mounting the engine and tranny would be more than a weekend job for just about anyone.

No such car exists. The Americas are the only places that even have Eclipses sold through normal means.

EDIT: Realized I misread a post so this is gonna look a bit ****ed up from editing, but...

The 4g93T is the Lancer GSR (NOT EVO GSR) engine. It's a 1.8l and it's mounted facing the complete wrong direction for our application. Transversely mounted 4g93E's (the NA DOHC variant) and 4g93T's DO exist, but they're next to impossible to find. Trust me on this one.

That's an FTO in Japan...totally different engine than the Eclipse. So what is the engine code on the new 2.4 MIVEC?

I'm willing to bet they keep it as 4g64 and just drop a 4g6x MIVEC head on it.

The FTO top model is equipped with a 2.0 V6 DOHC MIVEC...the engine code should be 6A12...

Actually, the Eclipse was sold in Japan, albeit only for a very short time. The 4G63T there had 220hp probably due to better gasoline and higher compression ratio...
An example...

The Eclipse was also sold in Europe, but without the turbo...

So they took a Japanese car, built it in the US, and then shipped back to Japan? Are you sure they weren't grey market sales? I'm not saying no other countries have them, I just had no idea they were sold through normal channels anywhere else outside of the Americas. Anyone else? Little help? Don't wanna steer this too far off topic so hopefully we can get a quick resolution.

A little boo-boo here. Mitsu has no real code for figuring out DOHC or not. I do have a engine stamp on the block marking 4g93E, meaning the block was originally for DOHC.

The 6g72 is a 3.0L while the 6g74 is the diamnate 3.5L . . . no bearing on DOHC or not. Also, the 6g72 has so many cyl head changes from SOHC to DOH.C. It's virtually confusing trying to figure out the variation.

Actually, there are two generations of the 4g93T. The most common ones are very cheap in cost faces the opposite way. The 2nd gen faces the right way, but there are extremely rare and may cost as much as an E4 engine. The Lancer GSR are considered pocket rockets w/o breaking the bank.

The same for the MIVEC 1.6L . . . they have 3 gens. 1st faces the opposite. the 2nd faces the right way. the 3rd is MIVEC MD. worthless engine.

Now, if Mitsu brought the non-MIVEC version and just stroke it to 2.2 or 2.3L. This engine can make the 220 HP flwheel with ease with a lot TQ from a 6 banger. Now, you can have a sedan matching power against a grand prix GT, a lot heavier too.

Isn't that what I said? So you're telling me I need to take a communications class, eh?

I've been looking for some time for a 4g93T to buy/steal but to no avail. If I ever do find anything I'll be sure holler.
