US vs. CAN lancer
I dunno in canada when it comes to mitsu we seem to get everything a year or two later.......my bet is evo in 2005. I haven't heard much about the 2004 lancer and ealers in canada are clueless. when i was in finsihing up paper work they told some guy that they would have EVO's by december. Also about the engine upgrade rumors has it it may be 160hp at the fly wheel. you could by a 2003 for 3 or 4 grand cheaper and use that money for a turbo where it would yeild about 170 whp. just my thoughts
I'm in Quebec, and plan on getting a Lancer as soon as my Volvo breaks down... it has currently over 450 000 km on it but man it just can't die!
I looked a lot in the specs, and I plan on getting an ES and tune it. If I get an OZ, I don't want the body kit and spoiler, I don't want the wheels..
Let's see the comparison between the two models (Forget about LS it's autotran)
Rear stabilizer bar only on OZ
Anti-lock braking system unavailable on ES, Optional on OZ (730$ Can)
Variable intermittent windshield wipers + mist control only on OZ
Heated side mirrors only on OZ
One-touch power sunroof + vent feature Optional only on OZ (1750$ Can)
Power sideview mirrors Optional on the ES, Standard on the OZ
Air conditioning Optional on the ES, Standard on the OZ
Power windows + drivers side auto-down Optional on the ES, Standard on the OZ
Power door locks Optional on the ES, Standard on the OZ
Colour-keyed front, side and rear ground effects Standard on OZ only
Rear spoiler Standard on OZ only
Prices now:
OZ (no abs or sunroof): 19 997$ Can
ES with Remote Keyless Entry System, 60/40 Split Fold-Down Rear Seatback, Rear-Seat Center Armrest with Cup Holders, Colour-Keyed Door Handles, Rear-Seat Headrests, Floor Mats. Air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power sideview mirrors, woodgrain I/P trim, dual vanity mirrors, 8-way adjustable drivers seat, roof mounted antenna.: $ 18,257
The price is close.. the only thing you get more in the OZ are the spoiler, side skirt, wheels, intermittent wipers and heated side mirrors.
I still think I would get the ES to save on insurance and put a custom body kit and wheels. I can live without intermittent wipers (altough it's frustrating)... The only option I really want is A/C.. and split rear seat which makes the two option groups necessary.
My post is getting too long!

oh and also, that 160hp 2004 will just increase the price tag
and the insurance price tag.
Since I'm 22, almost 23, it's still really pricey to insure a car (1400$ + per year) even for a sub 20k$ car!
So once again I'd go with a 2003 and put money on upgrades.

when i was shoping they wanted 4500 a year on insurance for the o-z and 2900 for an es, mind you i am 20. the reason they gave me for the difference was the onatrio insurance board was rating o-z the same as integras and rsx for theft.
im close to the same boat as you guys. im coming up 24 in march. the car im driving right now, i pay 115 a month for insurance, which i dont think is too bad. then again, look at the car i drive
i just wish that they would release some definite info on the '04 sometime soon, like how itll look and the options/price. i dont want to wait till the fall only to find out that the '04 lancer has an engine upgrade that makes the car 25 g's before taxes cause thats too much for my $12/hr job

sportronic isnt just a name- it simulates a m/t . You can shift up or down by moving the shifter over to the right, then tap up or down- I think it's going to be similar to the one in the outlander
I love my 03 OZ. My bro got me into cars, and my opinion is this car (once more mods come out) will be an awesome car! I am gonna make heads turn once I get it the way I want it...yeah it wont compare to the evo8...but hey my wallet doesnt compare to that either!
