Need help here/ Custom interior gone wrong?

Hey, so first off i'd like to say that i'm a dumba**. Okay, i bought some interior/plastic spray paint, that i ALSO used for my armrest/cupholders and my 'center piece. those look GREAT!But i HATE the ES grey interior SOOOO much, i spray painted the pieces you can't take off - or can you?!? In the pic belove shows the parts i painted. I didn't do that great of a job...Now, CAN i take that part off and swap it w/ another ES or lancer???? or sand it down to get the paint off? or am i really like screwed?

[and no thats not my lancer. dont know who's it is]

Don't use sandpaper. I recommend you using scotch bright.

well, the color is dark charcoal metallic. got it at autozone, and something TOLD Me not to f*ckin spray that first shot, but i did...shouldve been more smart and painting whatever i wanted AFTER i got it out of the car first. but won't sanding it ruin the texture? and be like a whiteish color? or what? im calling salvage yards tomorrow just in case..

sanding will remove the texture depending on what grit and how long you sand the piece. the color of it after sanding wont matter since youll be painting over it. from my own experience, hand-sanding the texture down to smoothness took a painfully long time, since i wanted to have a smooth fiberglass-looking interior paint job. there were several times that my diy job didnt come out as i wanted to, but all i did was just sand it back down to the primer and repaint. since you want to keep the texture on it, you should be careful not to sand beyond the primer color.

yea for a job like this, or any job for that matter, take your time and do a lot of researching on it. read what others went through and if you cant find any info, just ask, especially if its a diy. the idea or spraying it while its in the car seems kinda just.. wrong lol

oh yea and if your going to a junk yard to get those pieces off the car, might as well look at how its done (if they do it for you. never had to go to one so dunno how it works. or maybe its already takn off. o well i dunno )

I'd just sand, clean, repaint. But I'd also never spray anything in the car. You WILL eventually start spotting points where the fine mist from the paint settled on other parts of your car, no matter how careful you are. If you're lucky it'll have dried and landed in a dust-like form rather than landing wet and drying on other parts of the interior. I'd remove, sand (or whatever other abrasive you prefer), clean, reprime, repaint, replace. You'll be able to spray with a lot more precision, and you'll see it in the results.

get a haynes manual or go to ur dealer service dept. and ask for a blowout diagram of your whole dash. It should give you a good idea of how to take ur whole dash apart.

Good luck with your project, and hey even tho u messed up a little, i still give you props for trying to do something custom
