how many miles and what kind of problems?

sorry if this a repost but couldnt find anything specific searching....

I am curious to know how many miles people have on their us lancers, what type of mods and what type of repairs that have been done, other than wrecks etc. to get an idea how long and how reliable our cars are with and without mods.

2003 lancer ES
34000 miles.
freshly put in SRI.
no problems except rattle and buzz. super annoying and probably generally unoticed not causing me any problems.
oh yeah rust work covered by the dealership. those f-ers are lazy. they did a crappy job on the repaint.

03 ES, 38,000 miles on the clock

Problems: Bad purge solenoid in the first week, none others.

Mods: Short-Ram Intake, after-market muffler, Bosch Platinum II spark plugs

I believe that our cars are great for the price. I passed up the chance to get a MazdaSpeed Protege to keep my Lancer. It was partly because the cost of maintaining the Protege, but mainly because my Lancer has been so reliable.

2003 Lancer ES
Got it in August 2003, it has 33400mi on it.

No problems with it except the fan replaced by recall. I'd say the lancers are pretty reliable cars. I hope it keeps on being this reliable heh

2002 Lancer OZ, purchased Oct. 2001

~60,000 miles

Only thing that's had to be replaced was the o2 sensor, which was under warranty.

2003 Lancer OZ Rally -- 26k miles.
MODS: RRM Header, Injen SRI, RRM Testpipe, Magnaflow Catback, Eibach Pro Kit Springs. Those are the major mods..

I haven't had any big problems with the car, it runs pretty much like when the day I bought it.. except a little quicker since all the mods.

My car is currently in the dealership repair shop for warranty work..(all no cost) They are replacing all the squeaky bushings, checking my clutch life, fixing the squeaky brakes.. and they had already replaced the only recall I know of for the fan controller thing.

I'm happy with the way my car is working out. Maybe I should have got the sticking heater vent control issue fixed too.. the dealer told me it was free. Maybe next time.

Though I never considered them a "problem", these noises are identical to rattles on my car. I have read the EVO's can rattle some, which I assumed was from the removal of the resonator in the exhaust. Is it safe to say that these rattles are common to the regular Lancer?

120,000km Bought January 03

Used to have:
Cat-Back
AEM CAI
Tein-S Springs
17" Eagle Alloy Rims
DIY Blacked out headlights
TYC CF Taills

Car is now stock

-2 Throw-Out Bearings,

-2 Transmissions (Dealer Fault)

-Rear End Links (The bushings basically dissipeared and I had about 1" of movement in the rear strut bar)

-Right Front Strut
-Strut Mount
-Strut Bearing

-Sun Roof makes a gawd awfol noise when open fully and traveling between 40 and 60km/h

-Clear Coat Sucks

-Stock Tires were sub-par

-Fan Controller (Re-call)

-Rad Cap (Re-call)

Not all of these problems were the vehicles fault. Lowering my car caused the strut problems. The throw out bearing which is a common problem was replaced by dealer and they screwed up 3 times and had to keep replacing my transmission.

I thought the end links were just for my car but it seems as people put more milage on their cars the end links are starting to go (The bolt pulls through the bushing)

To fix the sun roof you just have to shut it about 1/4" and it goes away.

I only notice the clear coat cause my car is black.

I have had a few more problems then that. Sometimes I think I got a Lemon. There was about 6 months where I drove rentals more then my car.

Everything is better now and I really like my Lancer a lot. Sure its slow and boxie but it handles nice and There are some really good features.
