Thinking about an SAFC II

I was wondering if I should get the Apexi SAFC.

My mods are:

SRI, bored throttle body, header, cat back exhaust, magnecor sprak plug wires, magnum fuel rail, and soon a test pipe.

Do you think I could get some good gains by installing this and having a shop tune my car?

Also, how hard are the installs for AFCs?

Oh, ya... I never learned a lot about the Apexi SAFC II. So I was just wondering from other people who know more about it.

Something that I might like to get to work with that's why I was wondering if it would do much for my car. I have read a while ago that the Apexi SAFC didn't do much, but now that maybe more people have invested time in using it in a Lancer that maybe something has come from it.

I also know that it will help by mahaging and getting better air/fuel ratio, but will it make much difference with my mods. I don't think my air/fuel could be that off, but that's why I am asking.

Edit: Seems the SAFC forums, mostly Evo guys are on there. I have never used an air fuel controller before, so this is something actually new to me.

10%-15% gains and more useful powerband.

It's definitaly worth it but at the same time why not just be Emanage for $299.00 and have someone tune it. Emanage has more things to play with

just to let you know safc can only change you a/f if you were planning to become turboed soon then i would go with the emanage because if you need to you can change many more things including timing in case you need to retard the timing but the big ste up for the safc is the fact that it is a self contained unit and no laptop is required. Your call And in the end if you dont want to mess with all this stuff you could always go with rrm they have already done all the tuning for you but its too expensive for me not sure about you though.

you will get gains, but dont expect huge gains. my best suggestion is to pm someone that has one to get a rough estimate of what kind of gains you can get and everything to answer your questions. hopefully soon someone will post that has one.

I would suggest the emanage. You cant beat it for the price. And there is so much more to work with in the emanage.

yes emanage and rrm pb do give more gains, but dont you have to have software/comp. or have to have a shop tune it? whereas, the safc can be tuned by the driver.

Emanage controlles air fuel ratio but has more variables to adjust it.
You can also buy a timing harness and then you will be able to controll timing.

The only thing that concerns me is the timing harness (or ignition harness) does not work well on mitsubishi. Is it true that our coil packs would get fried?

We have pretty good experience with the SAFC II. If you were to get the Emange, wait for the new one...Emange Ultimate.

I already had the RRM Piggy Back, but sold. Was giving me little problems but power was noticeable. I know the SAFC will do just about the same, plus is a lot cheaper.

- Emanage $299 and had more variables, and good for turbo which I will be doing, and will need to be tuned by a shop

- SAFC II $285 from Lancershop.com, controls air/fuel which I want, looks cool, and can be controlled by the driver

Hmmm.. now I will have to make a choice.

You might want to consider having a shop help you out regardless of what you get, just to be on the safe side.
