bar in trunk?

in the trunk there is a thin bar that connects both ends on the trunk lid, right up inside the trunk. Would it be alright to remove this piece? I was going to put some audio equipment in there and it is in the way.

I think you are talking about the trunk spring tentioners.. or whatever they are called. If you remove them your trunk just won't spring up.

Is this a bad thing? Those tensioners are keeping me from doing an idea that I have for my trunk.

Just remove it and find out. I can say I've never heard of anyone removing it, so you can be the first and then let the rest of know how it goes.

Remove them. Open the trunk by pulling the wing upwards.

And post pics of what you do.

I've heard people with CF trunks taking them out because their trunk opened to fast and flipped all over the place. Its safe to do. Just be careful so it doesn't fly back and hit you in the chin knocking you out.

The trunk may not pop right from the lever next to the driver's seat I'm guessing. I'm sure it won't effect your opening it with a key however. Anyway, it's not like the trunk lid is heavy.
