when u pop the trunk look under the rear deck where the rear speakers are or where the dome light of the trunk is at. u'll see two thin bars that span across the trunk and cross each other in the middle with a piece of plastic..... just remove one of them. i took a long bar/stick and pried it out. once u get one of them is out ur trunk will only open a couple of inches.

You'll need to take BOTH of them out.......If you only take one you'll put on the tension on one side of the trunk and it'll cause your trunk to pull up on one side REALLY BAD. I had to remove both of mine so the trunk would sit flat. The only problem now is that you'll have to hold your trunk up when you want it open, or you can prop it open with something

damn.....i do shows and i like to showcase my speakers in back so do you think if i took out those tension bars that a flip flop trunk would keep it up? im gonna wait till i put my evo wing on till i do anything....it probably wont even do much though seeing that the majority of it is also CF....thanks for your help guys

Just get a 5 lb. weight and a hot glue gun. Add some weight to the underside of the trunk lid...

does the trunk still have the key hole in the back? or can you only open it w/ the trunk pop?

lol, blacksheepdj *defeats purpose of cf trunk, but a cool idea, hahaha.

No, maybe try one of those little actuator arms like they have to hold open hoods. (pneumatic/hydraulic lifter things) I've seen them be used on trunks/hatches all the time at car shows. You would just have to rig it in the right spot or on a slider bracket for it to open correctly. A car customizing shop could to it real quick with ease.

I would use a hydrolic arm to control opening and closing if I were serious about it. Knowing me though...I'd just deal with it. The only time I can remember using my trunk was going to and from the mountain snowboarding.

i was thinkin add some weight to the trunk, make it nice and silent , add some silencer to the inside of it to make it nice and it will serve to functions. and this has been covered i think numerous times.. SEARCH i beleive its still around.

ok so we just fixed this very issue last week. we removed only one tension bar and the thing was cockeyed like crazy. took out the other and it doesnt open at all. sooo. we put them both back in. you mentioned you are getting an evo wing. we put ours on and the trunk opens fast still but not as bad as it did with both bars and no wing. it doesnt "slam" open anymore. so the wing should actually help.

I can't believe I spelled hydraulic "hydrolic". Man, that's embarassing. If you leave the tension bars on, can't you put something on there to dampen the fling?
